Telangana Fisheries Department has launched a floating cage-based fish hatchery on the Godavari River near Rajamahendravaram. These floating racks use controlled and solar-powered aeration and fingerling release modules. Hatch rates have improved to 85%, with juvenile fish stocked into community ponds weekly. The model removes ground space constraints and resists flood damage. Local fish farmers receive hatchlings directly and are trained in secondary rearing. The department targets 50 more floating units along the river over two years to support inland fish production.
